AMD shows a Big Navi Sneak Peak. Is Nvidia in trouble?

AMD announced Ryzen 3 Desktop Processors

AMD took to the stage today to reveal their Ryzen 3 desktop processors. They have been killing it recently with their Ryzen 2 processors. Intel has not been able to keep up with them, even with their 10k CPUs. AMD, thanks to their 7nm processing, has created energy efficient and powerful chips. I’m sure you have seen that Intel still eeks out small percentage gains in gaming over AMD, but when it comes to productivity, Intel hasn’t stood a chance.

This is where AMD seems to be focusing their efforts this time around. A lot of the presentation was focused on gaming and their efforts to beat Intel in that area. They showed comparisons to Intel’s top of the line CPU and how you can expect double digit gains with the new 5900X in games. Im sure they will still be the champs in productivity so no point in talking about that.

The last big surprise in the presentation was a sneak peek at the performance of the new Radeon 6000, or Big Navi, GPUs.

AMD claims 88 FPS
AMD is claiming 88 FPS in COD

They claim that with their CPUs and a Big Navi GPU, you can expect 88 FPS in Modern Warfare at 4K Ultra Quality. I’m assuming they are referring to Warzone and wanted to compare this to NVIDIA’s 3080 and 3090 performance.

In Jansn Benchmarks’s youtube video on the 3090s performance in Warzone, you can expect roughly 155 FPS at 4k and Ultra settings with Intels top of the line CPU. Then in Tech Imperium’s video, the 3080 can run Warzone at roughly that 88 FPS mark on High settings.

So, from these comparisons it seems like the card AMD is showcasing falls close to the 3080’s performance. Since we do not know if this is their top tier card or not, this could be either good or bad. If this card is priced below the 3080 they could have a real winner here. I am especially excited to see if this isn’t their top tier card, and what performance that may have.
